![]() Cantiga Cantiga's unique and magical music has delighted visitors to Renaissance Festivals across America for almost three decades. ...CANTIGA's music should strike a familiar chord with anyone who loves Tolkein's "Lord of the Rings"...CANTIGA began in the 1970's at the Texas Renaissance Festival as the result of a musical collaboration between fiddler Malcolm Smith and harpist Martha Gay who joined forces to perform ancient European melodies. Joined by recorder and flute player, Bob Bielefeld, they selected the name Cantiga, (Galician for "song") in tribute to the "Cantigas de Santa Maria", a 13th century collection of songs compiled by King Alfonso ("El Sabio"). Cantiga's unique and magical music has delighted visitors to Renaissance Festivals across America for almost three decades. Current members of the band include: Bob Bielefeld, Martha Gay, fiddler Mark Caudill, cellist Max Dyer and on charango and percussion, Cantiga's newest member, Charry Garcia. |

| Robin Hood Patrick Franz has been on stage at over 50 faires (both Renaissance and other) since he began performing in California over 14 years ago. He is the director of the Sons of Anacreon, a Victorian comedy/singing group and has taken his act on the road. Over the years he has acted, sung, and fought on stages all over the country, often creating and recreating Shakespeare's work, as well as playing the bard himself on occasion. He has worked with many wild animals: Panthers, Falcons, and Children. He is both a director and fight choreographer and loves to make things to go boom. He has also founded "Presenters of Living History" teaching California students American History, Shakespeare, Commedia, and historical craft skills. | ![]() |
